Go Ask Mom

Tara Lynn: Coronavirus - Hey Moms ... you've got this

As a mom of three who loves my kiddos with every ounce of my heart, but also is willing to admit that I am a better mom when I can work, I'm pulling every ounce of patience I have to offer myself and my kids grace. These next few weeks (or months) are going to be trying and I already know I will hit my breaking point multiple times.

To the stay-at-home moms who love taking their children out to parks, play dates and learning experiences, but are now confined to the four walls of your home … you’ve got this.

To the moms who have to go to work and are hoping your daycare doesn’t close so you can continue to pay your bills … you’ve got this.

To the moms who have young kids and are also taking care of elderly parents, and have no idea if you can keep both generations safe … you’ve got this.

To the moms who are taking turns with your spouses working from home and watching the kid s… you’ve got this.

To the grandmas who help watch your grandkids and now have to distance yourselves to keep your family safe (and alive) … you’ve got this.

To the moms of children with compromised immune systems who live with anxiety every day and are terrified this new virus will hit your family despite all the protocols you have in place … you’ve got this.

To the moms of college students and young adults who are forced to come back home and worry about their future … you’ve got this.

To the single moms with family unavailable to help … you’ve got this.

To the moms who are the breadwinners or those who can’t stop working and have to explain to your kids why … you’ve got this.

To the mamas that love their kids dearly and take pride in their work, but worry you don’t have the patience to survive or be the perfect mother you expect yourself to be the next few weeks … you’ve got this.

The unknown is scary. And we want to provide stability for our families, but it’s hard.

So to the moms, dads, young adults, college students and anybody else who is able … lend a well-sanitized hand. Check-in on these mamas and offer words of encouragement, but also offer child care if you can. Offer up a few extra rolls of toilet paper, glasses of milk, a meal, or just an ear. We can get through this with love and support and by not being selfish.

These next few weeks (or months) are going to be trying and I already know I will hit my breaking point multiple times.

But we are moms. We are women. When the going gets tough, we somehow always manage to find that last bit of strength to keep going.

Hey mamas, we’ve got this.

With Love,

Tara Lynn
