Tar Heel Traveler: Yuko Art

Yuko Nogami Taylor left Japan for America at age 24, feeling she didn't belong in either country. She settled in North Carolina and at one point came across photographs of impoverish, nameless Black Americans and felt a kinship with them. Working from those photos, she created a series of paintings. Today, Yuko lives in Raleigh, and those works, along with her traditional Japanese paintings, have sold nationwide.
