BURLINGTON, N.C. — It's amazing how much can change in a couple of years. It seems like just yesterday, my daughters were making Christmas lists for new dolls and Shopkins collectibles. I remember being annoyed that they'd asked for more when dozens already covered our floors.

Fast forward to now and the only things they seem to want are electronics and clothing. It's bittersweet, of course, because they're growing up. On the other hand, my oldest and I can wear some of the same things. Mostly shoes but that's a win for us both since I rarely shop for myself!

The Christmas spirit is already taking over our home even though Thanksgiving hasn't yet arrived. We're ready for decorating, gingerbread houses and the energy of it all. The only thing lingering is the shopping. Whether you choose to call me an early or a late shopper, I do it when I feel inspired. Better yet, when I have the time and money.

I've told my daughters to write their Christmas lists but in the meantime, I asked what they'd like. So what will Santa and relatives bring a 14 and 8 year old this year? Below are lists of what they've asked for so far. I'm sharing in case you're looking for gift ideas for your young ones.

Some of the items my oldest requested and received for her birthday recently. I'm including those as well. And yes, I share these lists with their permission.

My oldest has requested: a new cell phone, a laptop, Samsung Galaxy Buds, Rose Quartz face roller, coffee mug, new rug/bed comforter/room decor, standing jewelry box, amplifier, clothes, hoodies, shoes, My Hero Academia items, makeup bag
My youngest has requested: platform boots, a laptop, video games, My Hero Academia items, art supplies, books, jewelry, fake nails, face mask maker, anime/cosplay stuff, clothes
As I mentioned, these aren't the only items they'd like. And some things they already have. Consider these running lists. If they change drastically enough to share over the next week, I'll create a present-day post for the blog, Thriller Mom.

Now, if your children are a bit younger, the posts created before are still live. They're written from my daughters' perspectives. My oldest was 12, a tween. My youngest was 6. Post links are below:

If you see anything of interest or have questions about our experience(s) with any items on the lists, leave a comment. I'm happy to share.
