RALEIGH, N.C. — A decade after Marbles Kids Museum in downtown Raleigh opened up its popular Power2Play exhibit, the space got a bit of a reboot this week.

On Thursday, Marbles officially opened an updated Workout Zone, which is the area across the back wall of this second floor exhibit with equipment you might see in a gym.

Don't worry, Power2Play fans: Sock hockey, basketball hoops and the dance area remain. Gone, however, are the log rollers, rings, ladders and balance beams.

In their place, you'll find a two-side climbing piece; a Revo, which is a rotating ring that spins back and forth; and a snowboarding area. The pull-yourself-up chairs, where kids pull themselves higher using a pulley, now have lights to celebrate when you've reached the top. And kids can count their jumps on the one-person trampoline and their RPMs on the so-called Crank, which involves cranking balls around in a loop.

The updates come thanks to Power2Play's sponsor, the Carolina Hurricanes, who brought Stormy along for Thursday's opening.

“Power2Play has become a destination at Marbles that promotes exercise and healthy living, while also working together to ensure hockey is for everyone. We look forward to seeing lots of budding Canes fans and future hockey players having fun in Power2Play for years to come," said Jon Chase, the Hurricanes' vice president of community outreach, in a press release.

Marbles staff toured the Hurricanes' training center this summer to get some ideas for the exhibit. And two phrases found in the exhibit are also found in the training facility — Find Your Strength, which you'll find on the wall near the weights, and Raise Your Game, which is on the pull-yourself-up chairs.

The Workout Zone inside Power2Play is now open. It's free with museum admission, which is $7 per person.
