Take the Kids: Maple View Creamery the perfect sweet stop on visit to Gibsonville
I'm all for finding local treasures, but on this particular day, I also wanted the kind we could eat. We had both savory AND sweet.
Posted — UpdatedMy daughters and I decided to spend some of our weekend in Gibsonville. It's a short distance from us but a town we'd never explored. We also asked "Grandma" to join us.
(Keep up with our adventures and you'll find grandparents to be a huge part of our lives!)
After arriving, we parked downtown and did some exploring. Everyone we met was so kind. That always makes a difference in our view of a place and if we'll return.
We only had a few hours to spare, and it didn't take long before bellies grumbled for lunch. Having already done research, I knew what and where we were eating. For dessert, the kids wanted to really indulge. Maple View's County Line Creamery ice cream was delicious!
The Gibsonville location is their newest. You'll find it at 113 E. Main St. It's open from noon to 8:30 p.m. They have diverse flavors to satisfy your sweet tooth and please your palate. Yum!
I checked out the Maple View Farm website and learned that the farm and the milk company recently closed their doors. Maple View ice cream will be sticking around. If you've tried it, I know that's excellent news. If not, I'm encouraging you to make it happen.
My daughters and I eat ice cream all year long. We don't normally head out to ice cream shops during winter months, but you'll definitely find some in our freezer. Coffee and chocolate are our staples.
So what flavors did we enjoy at the creamery? Between the four of us we had strawberry and vanilla mixed, coffee, cookies and cream and a regular strawberry. One scoop each, in waffle cones, of course.
Talk about getting your money's worth. The scoops were so huge! My oldest couldn't finish hers. My youngest, however, had no problem.
The ice cream was so creamy, not overly sweet and the perfect texture. There is nothing like really good ice cream on a hot day. We couldn't believe the level of heat on an October afternoon. It felt like summer.
I also have to mention the down-home feel of the shop. Although people walked in and out, it was never crowded. The only sounds besides our own were those of a grandfather joking with his young granddaughter. Her giggles bounced off the walls along with my daughters'. Such a pleasant time.
Have you visited this creamery or any Maple View Farm ice cream location? What did you purchase?
