RALEIGH, N.C. — Wednesday will be unusually cold for spring, with a high in the mid 50s in the Triangle.

"It's going to be sweater weather all day," said WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Temperatures will struggle to get above 55 degrees in Raleigh on Wednesday. The normal high for April 1 is 68 degrees.

Some rain fell early Wednesday morning, but Gardner said it should taper off by 7 or 8 a.m. The day will be dry but cloudy.

"I don't think we will see a lot of sunshine today," Gardner said.

Temperatures will drop into the low 40s overnight, making for a chilly Thursday morning, but then pleasent weather returns.

7-Day Forecast

Thursday, Friday and the weekend will be clearer and sunny, with highs in the mid 60s for Thursday and Friday and highs in the 70s for Saturday and Sunday.
