RALEIGH, N.C. — A stretch of Sunnybrook Road in southeast Raleigh was closed after an SUV crashed into a power pole early Friday, authorities said.

The accident occurred on Sunnybrook Road between Middle Branch Road and Poole Road just as the morning commute was shifting into high gear.

It was not immediately clear how the accident occurred but police closed Sunnybrook Road after a power pole was nearly topped during the incident. Yellow crime scene tape was placed around the front yard where a Jeep Cherokee SUV came to a rest after crashing through the yard.

Police said minor injuries were reported during the incident.

No power outages have been reported in the area so far.
