Man taken into custody following brief Wake County chase

A 32-year-old man was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a chase in northeastern Wake County, sheriff's office spokesman Jimmy Stevens said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 32-year-old man was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a chase in northeastern Wake County, sheriff's office spokesman Jimmy Stevens said.

The chase began after a deputy tried to stop a vehicle on N.C. Highway 96 near Zebulon. It ended a short time later when Robert Lee Alston, of Wake Forest, fled from the vehicle on foot on Mitchell Mill Road in Raleigh. 

Alston is charged with resisting arrest, speeding, speeding to elude arrest, reckless driving and other traffic charges.

No injuries were reported.
