ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Walmart in Rocky Mount earlier this month, police said Tuesday.

A’Kavis Deonte Knight, 20, was arrested in Muskogee, Okla., on Sunday on charges of malicious injury and property damage as well as obstructing a police officer.

Knight is awaiting extradition to North Carolina.

Police said four people got into an argument with a man inside the Walmart on 1511 Benvenue Road on Oct. 9, and the argument escalated into gunfire.

The gunshot victim, Willie Ray, 34, was treated at a local hospital.

Jaylen Knight, 21 and Darius Williams, 19, were charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. A juvenile also was charged in the case.

"The Rocky Mount Police Department takes the safety of its citizens very seriously," Police Chief George Robinson said in a statement. "This type of recklessness endangers everyone and will not be tolerated."
