PARKTON, N.C. — Deputies arrested a teenager wanted for the two-year-old armed robbery of an 81-year-old woman in Fayetteville.

Cumberland County deputies spotted Dustin Shane Mantz, 17, of 162 Sally Hill Circle, in a wooded area off Knapdale and McIver roads in Parkton on Friday. Mantz tried to run, but deputies caught him after a foot chase.

Detectives said they believe Mantz and two other people forced their way into the Gainey Road home of the elderly woman on Jan. 18. They took a 1996 Nissan pickup truck and an undisclosed amount of money.

One person waited outside in a late model Cadillac while the robbery was in progress, detectives said.

The woman was not harmed, authorities said.

Mantz faced charges of first-degree burglary, larceny of a motor vehicle, robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a deadly weapon. Deputies said more charges might be forthcoming.

Investigators had not set a bond or court date for Mantz as of Friday night.
