Suspect in custody after man fatally shot at Fayetteville motel

One man died Saturday night after a shooting at a motel in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — One man died Saturday night after a shooting at a motel in Fayetteville.

Around 11 p.m., deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to the Carolina Motor Inn at 2533 Gillespie St.

Police on Sunday released surveillance photos of a silver sedan and two people they believe may have information about the shooting. 

Rafael Ramon Purdie, 39, of Hope Mills, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Sunday evening, homicide detectives charged and arrested 41-year-old Bobbie Colston Farrior of Fayetteville in connection to the murder.

Farrior was taken to the Cumberland County Detention Center and is being held without bond at the Cumberland County Center for First Degree Murder.

The Sheriff's Office thanked to the public for the assistance in locating the individuals. They told WRAL News The female is no longer wanted for questioning.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit.
