SPRING LAKE, N.C. — A suspect in a 2-year-old armed robbery surrendered to Cumberland County sheriff's deputies earlier this week.

Benjamin Magnum, 29, became the fourth man to be charged in the March 2006 robbery of the Family Dollar Store in the Skyland Shopping Center. Authorities said Magnum drove the getaway car.

Magnum faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for May 20.

Marcus Jerome Morgan, 25; Whitley Russell, 23; and Alphonso Stephenson, 20 – all of Fayetteville – have been arrested in connection with the Family Dollar Store robbery.

Morgan, Russell and Stephenson admitted to being part of a gang and said they considered robbing stores and restaurants as a job to make money, Fayetteville police said when the men were arrested in early April.
