Suspect arrested in shooting that killed 19-year-old, injured juvenile

A Robeson County man was arrested and charged in the shooting of two teenagers, one who died, on Friday.

FAIRMONT, N.C. — A Robeson County man was arrested and charged in the shooting of two teenagers, one who died, on Friday.

Deputies arrested Justin Joseph Brown, 23, of Fairmont after he turned himself in. He was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felonious restraint, assault with a deadly weapon and assault by pointing a gun.

Brown was placed in the custody of the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

Deputies responded to the intersection of N.C. Highway 41 South and Turkey Branch Road in Fairmont just before 11 a.m. Friday. They found Takira, Grissett, 19, and a 14-year-old juvenile with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Southeastern Health. Grissett died upon arrival at the hospital. The juvenile was treated and is expected to recover.
