Driver who hit Raleigh pedestrians: 'My light was green'
The driver who caused a multi-vehicle pedestrian crash in downtown Raleigh over the weekend said he can still picture one of the women - pinned under his vehicle.
Posted — Updated"When I go to sleep and I close my eyes, I can still see the lady on the side up under the car," said JayDizz Clinding-Pulley.
Authorities said Clinding-Pulley ran a red light, hit another vehicle and crashed into a group of pedestrians in downtown Raleigh Sunday night near the intersection on West Edenton and North Salisbury streets.
"I hit my face on the steering wheel, and when I looked up I saw the lady with blood on her face," he said.
Clinding-Pulley, 18, said he is a new driver and just got his license about a month ago. He believes he is not responsible for the crash.
"My light was green. I am sure my light was green. I know for sure my light was green," he said.
Logan Smith, 17, was out with her mom and a photographer on a senior photo shoot. The photographer's sister was also injured in the wreck.
In total, five people were taken to an area hospital, but none had life-threatening injuries. Two people remained in the hospital on Tuesday night.
Charges are pending against Clinding-Pulley, according to a police report.
