RALEIGH, N.C. — Surveillance footage caught the moment that a person opened fire out of his car on customers in a gas station parking lot.

Officials said that no one was injured but customers and employees had to dive for cover.

It took just seconds to go from quiet, to chaos, outside the New Bern Mini Mart Thursday afternoon.

Security video shows a dark BMW pulling up, a hand reaching out with a gun, and customers and employees diving for cover.

Oswaldo Amaya, a clerk at the Mini Mart, escaped unharmed.

"Literally just walked in, when they started shooting," said Amaya. "All I could think about is if I'm good, cause at the moment you can't feel nothing."

He says this is the second time he has survived a shooting at this store.

No one was injured in Thursday's shooting and the bullets only broke glass.

Another clerk, Michael Dickens says there was a shooting at the mart just two months ago. He promised security will be stepped up.

"All the lights that's blown in this parking lot [are going to] be turned up, more cameras [are going to] be put out," he said. "Take the chance to come through here and do something stupid, it's going to be known."

Both men say they have no plans to leave their jobs at the mini-mart but say that it's past time for the community to learn to put their guns down.

Officials said they have not made any arrests in the shooting and are continuing to investigate.
