If you're a SunPass user and you've seen overdraft fees on your account, you can now ask for that money back.

Florida Department Transportation spokesman Ed Seifert announced Thursday that Florida's Turnpike Enterprise has launched a system to process overdraft claims on SunPass.com.

Some SunPass users have seen fees from their personal bank accounts posted to their accounts while the state and contractor responsible for the tolling system failure, Conduent State & Local Solutions, worked through at least 170 million backlogged charges.

"We will not let Conduent off the hook, and the bill for reimbursements will be sent directly to Conduent," FDOT secretary Mike Dew said in a release.

"SunPass customer service representatives are trained and ready to receive calls from customers who may have been impacted."

Customer service representatives can be reached at toll-free (888) 865-5352.

To qualify for overdraft reimbursement, customers need to submit any bank records that reflect at least two automatic replenishments and the resulting overdraft fees between June 11 and Aug. 17. Customers can choose between a mailed check or SunPass account credit.

Here are four ways users can file a claim:

• online at sunpass.com. Click on FAQs under the Quick Links column at the bottom of the home page;

• by fax at 1-888-265-1725;

• by mail: General Customer Correspondence & Enrollment, Florida Department of Transportation/SunPass, P.O. Box 447, Ocoee, FL 3476;

• or in person at a SunPass walk-in center.

SunPass walk-in centers in the bay area are located at 10137 E Adamo Drive, Suite 800A, in Tampa, and at 4501 54th Ave. S in St. Petersburg.

If claims are submitted online or at a SunPass walk-in center, expect it to take four to five business days to process.

Late fees and penalties will still be waived.
