Summer today, fall tomorrow: 15-degree temperature drop headed our way
The high on Thursday will be 15 degrees cooler than the high for Wednesday, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, and it will finally feel like fall.
Posted — UpdatedAccording to Gardner, Wednesday will be hot, with a high of 87 degrees. By the evening, scattered storms and showers could be headed our way, and more rain will fall overnight. With the rain will come a stark temperature drop.
While Thursday will be mild, it will be stormy and wet, and much of central North Carolina will be under a level 1 risk for severe weather.
"We will mainly see strong winds and rains, maybe some hail," said Gardner.
The high for Thursday will be in the low 70s, at least 15 degrees cooler than it was Thursday. There is a 60 to 70 percent chance for rain all day, according to Gardner, so it will not be a day to plan outdoor activities.
That doesn't mean the weekend will be rained out, though. Friday will see scattered storms and showers on and off, and temperatures will climb back into the low 80s.
Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy but clear, with warmer temperatures and little chance for rain.
