Student facing charges, accused of making threat of mass violence at Sandhills Community College

The Moore County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a student who is accused of making a threat of mass violence to a faculty member at Sandhills Community College.

Caleb Moore, 22 of Taylortown, is charged with one count of felony communicating a threat of mass violence on educational property and one count of felony possession of a firearm on educational property.

Authorities took Moore to the Moore County Detention Center without bond. He is due in court on Wednesday.

Sandhills Community College suspended all in-person activities Monday due to the off-campus threat.

The school tweeted that law enforcement had located the person believed to be responsible for the threat off campus.

The college also said high school students waiting for a bus to evacuate from the campus to report to Stone 111.
