Hope Mills, N.C. — A South View High School student was arrested Thursday after school administrators found a shotgun in his truck, authorities said Friday.
An assistant principal alerted the school resource officer about a student smelling like marijuana, and officials searched the student's backpack, locker and truck, where they found a camouflage 12-gauge shotgun under the back seat, authorities said.
Tre’Von Andre Mcneill, 17, of Crenshaw Road in Lumber Bridge, was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and was released into the custody of one of his parents.
