Wake County Public School System

— Student assignment was a hot topic at Lacy Elementary School in Raleigh on Thursday night.

Nearly 100 people, including three school board members, attended the school's monthly Parent Teacher Association meeting.

Parents heard from the Wake Education Partnership, who has commissioned an education consultant to create a controlled choice model, which focuses on items like choice, stability and proximity.

Parents also talked about the need for the community and education leaders to work together to resolve disagreements about student assignment.
