Strawberry farms across the region are gearing up for a big season of berry business.

The strawberry season typically runs from mid-April to late May or early June, and the Triangle region boasts dozens of strawberry farms with farm stands and pick-your-own fields. In fact, the state is the fourth largest producer of strawberries in the nation.

"There should be plenty of berries this year despite a wet and cold first quarter in 2019,” Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler said. “We encourage consumers to visit a pick-your-own farm, go to a farmers market or stop by a roadside stand to get the freshest berries available.”

If you're looking for places to pick strawberries or pick up some farm fresh ones, check our strawberry farm database with information about dozens of farms across the region.

Some may just now be opening. Most will begin to open over the next week or so. Be sure to check in with the farm you plan to visit before you go, so you can be sure they'll have strawberries once you get there.

Happy picking!
