Raleigh's Junior Interpreter Program will start up later this month for the 2018-19 academic year. Designed for kids ages 9 to 13, the program will launch with a meeting from 10 a.m. to noon, Sept. 15, at COR Museum, 220 Fayetteville St.

The program, according to the program's description, engages Raleigh’s young citizens through hands-on experiences, field trips, and volunteering to foster an appreciation for local history and inspire active community participation.

Kids, according to the description, will have the opportunity to participate in Raleigh history through places like the City of Raleigh Museum, Mordecai Historic Park, Oakwood Cemetery and local organizations.

The group meets one Saturday a month and offers opportunities to volunteer in special events throughout the year. It's free for participants.
