Wrong-way driver crashes on I-95 Monday night, sending six people to the hospital

According to the Selma Fire Department, the lane is shut down for "an extended period" due to a motor vehicle accident near Mile Marker 96. Authorities are asking people to avoid the area.

Six injured in wrong-way crash on I-95

A wrong-way driver crashed Monday evening in Interstate 95 in Johnston County.

According to authorities, a driver drove the wrong way on the interstate and crashed near Mile Marker 96 just before 7 p.m.

The driver crashed into a pickup truck traveling southbound. Witnesses said the truck flipped over three times before landing up right.

Another driver helped the family after crash, comforted the children involved and help collect their belongings.

No deaths were reported, Six people, including three small children, were sent to the hospital.

The crash has been cleared, but southbound lanes of I-95 are experiencing backups.

Charges are pending for the wrong-way driver
