Over the Edge with Kelcey: Ground cam

Morning anchor Kelcey Carlson became the latest member of the WRAL News team to go over the edge for a great cause Friday.

Carlson rappelled down the 30-story Wells Fargo Capitol Center building in downtown Raleigh as part of  Over The Edge.

The annual event allows people who raise $1,000 for Special Olympics North Carolina to rappel down the side of the skyscraper.

Carlson and WRAL Chief Engineer Pete Sockett made the trip on Friday at noon, in front of a live audience on TV, on WRAL.com and on the ground.

Others who raised enough money will get to do the drop Saturday, including Barbara Ann Elliott, of Henderson, who was born with just one hand.

Last year, WRAL-TV Meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner made her way down the building and in 2011 and 2010 WRAL's Mandy Mitchell and Ken Smith participated.
