There's something new and different in Johnston County that's well worth the 35 minute drive from Raleigh.

It doesn't matter what you're craving, you can find flavors from around the world under one roof at Old North State Food Hall in Selma.

Inside are vendors like Bowl & Bubble, which has boba and fruit teas and poke bowls, like the sushi bowl with jasmine rice, salmon, avocado, edamame and picked ginger, all topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce.

  • Levy's Jerkstand: Authentic Jamaican cuisine
  • Curry in a Hurry: Indian staples like butter chicken curry, channa masala and lamb curry
  • Aroma de Cuba: Cuban sandwiches, plantain chips, empanadas, Cuban coffee

Nathan Lambdin, general manager, told WRAL News when the 15,000-square-foot space opened in August that the food hall used to be a huge outlet center. Now, it's home to 10 incredible restaurants.

Many vendors began as food trucks and the space has allowed small business owners to expand.

Food halls began arriving in the Triangle area in 2018, when Morgan Street Food Hall opened in Raleigh.

The space is open and bright, and it's a great place to connect to the free WiFi and get some work done. There were plenty of high chairs for kiddos, and soda, tea and water are available to people who purchase meals.

Hours are:

  • Sunday through Thursday: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
