A shooting and motorcycle crash on Monday blocked Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Raleigh.

Police were investigating a shooting near the Roses discount store at 1610 Martin Luther King Junior Blvd., near Rock Quarry Road. One woman was shot and transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the shooting happened at the Roses, the victim's vehicle was located at the intersection of Raleigh Boulevard and Rock Quarry Road and the suspect's vehicle was found in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Ligon Middle School.

Ligon Road Middle School was on a code yellow lockdown as a result of the shooting.

Police said they are still searching for the shooter as of 10 p.m.

Minutes away from the shooting, police investigated a motorcycle crash.

The crash was reported before 3:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard near Raleigh Boulevard.

Raleigh police confirmed the driver of the motorcycle, 23-year-old Zahmir Williams, died as a result of his injuries.

Police said Williams was traveling down Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at South Bloodworth Street at a high rate of speed.

According to police, Williams ran off the road onto the sidewalk as the road curved. Williams was then ejected from his motorcycle.

Williams was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

According to police, Williams was unrelated to the shooting scene.
