A woman died from a shooting at an apartment complex in Raleigh on Tuesday morning. One person is in custody.

Raleigh police investigate shooting on North New Hope Road

A woman has died and a suspect is in custody after a shooting in the middle of the day on Tuesday.

Officers gathered around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at Lexington on the Green Apartment Homes in the 5100 block of North New Hope Road. Police said a woman was found with gunshot wounds.

Raleigh officers, detectives and investigators with a forensics team had a presence at the scene for much of the afternoon.

Raleigh police confirmed around 4:32 p.m. that the woman died from her injuries.

Raleigh police arrested 33-year-old Valentin Pacheco-Bautista and charged him with murder in connection to the woman's death.

Police officers were seen talking in front of one of the buildings and crime scene tape was posted.

It is unclear what lead to the shooting.

There is no threat to the community.
