Woman reports sexual assault in Fayetteville

A woman says that a stranger grabbed her off a Fayetteville street and sexually assaulted her early Tuesday, police said Friday.

The 39-year-old woman told police that she was walking near South C and Person streets shortly after midnight Monday when a man grabbed her, police said. She said the man took her behind a nearby business and sexually assaulted her.

Police described the man as black, 30 to 40 years old, between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He had a dark complexion and a small mustache. He was wearing black jeans, black tennis shoes and a brown T-shirt with yellow writing and graphics.

Police said the man is believed to hang out in the downtown area.
