Man dies in crash on MLK Jr. Blvd

Around 7:43 p.m., a man and a juvenile were in a white pickup truck that crashed in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The man, 57-year-old Donald Lawrence Morgan, died at the scene. The juvenile was taken to a hospital and is expected to live.

Investigators determined Morgan was driving east on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when a vehicle stopped in the right travel lane in front of him. Morgan swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle and struck the curb line. Morgan’s pickup truck then rolled over into the oncoming traffic lanes, striking a mailbox and landing on the passenger side.

Morgan was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries.

Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard was closed for several hours and reopened around 1 a.m.
