Woman hit, killed walking on interstate in Knightdale

A 28-year-old woman was hit by a car on Interstate 87 Saturday night on the Knightdale bypass, according to officials.

The woman and her boyfriend were driving down the interstate when there was a domestic problem, according to officials. The couple pulled over on the side of the interstate because of the incident, the woman got out of the car, then walked into the interstate and died.

She was hit near Wendell Boulevard. The boyfriend called 911 and officials arrived at the scene. Officials said they believe the woman who was hit had alcohol in her system.

The woman was from Charlotte, officials said. Her name has not been given to the public at this time. No other injures occurred.
