Woman hit, killed on Creedmoor Road in Raleigh

A woman was hit and killed Friday morning while walking on Creedmoor Road in Raleigh.

The State Highway Patrol (SHP) said state troopers responded to the crash at 3:55 a.m.

State troopers said the woman was wearing dark clothing while walking on the road. Another woman was driving south on Creedmoor Road when she hit the woman. Troopers said the driver tried to swerve out of the way, but she was not able to avoid hitting the woman. The woman who was hit died at the scene, according to state troopers.

The road was closed between Strickland Road and Baileywick Road. As of 6 a.m., the road reopened south of Baileywick Road.

Troopers are trying to identify the woman who was killed.
