Woman found dead inside car at Lumberton dealership

On Friday, Lumberton police found a dead woman inside a car at a local car dealership.

Officers with the Lumberton Police Department were dispatched to McNeill Used Cars at 404 South Chippewa Street around noon.

Officers said the woman appeared to have been dead for at least several weeks.

She appeared to have gone to sleep in the car and never woke up, according to police.

Her body was sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiners Office in Raleigh for autopsy and identification.

The investigation is ongoing.
