WMBF reports the Horry County Coroner’s Office released the name of the man who was found dead near a Sherwin-Williams store in Myrtle Beach.

Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said 43-year-old Robert Khattar died just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday. She said he died from multiple blunt force and chopping injuries to his face.

Willard added that Khattar was homeless and sleeping along Plaza Place, which is just off Mr. Joe White Avenue, when the assault happened.

Khattar was from Michigan but had been living in Myrtle Beach.

His body was discovered just after 7 a.m. Wednesday by a man who was picking up paint.

Myrtle Beach police announced on Wednesday night that they arrested Everett Ellis, 18, of Wilson, in the case and charged him with murder.

On Thursday a judge denied bond in the case. If convicted of the crime, Ellis could be sentenced anywhere from 30 years up to life in prison.
