The Broadway hit "Wicked" has been dazzling audiences for decades with its look at the Land of Oz before Dorothy got there. The show is bringing its magical tale to Durham Performing Arts Center through Sept. 17.

"You get to see some of those familiar characters and go back in time and get a different perspective on a well-known film and see why they make certain choices, " said Tara Kostmayer, who plays Nessarose in the touring production.

"Wicked" holds a special significance for Kostmayer as it was the first musical she ever saw on stage.

"I was blown away and went home and tried to learn the songs," she said. "It is definitely a huge part of why I wanted to do this as a career."

Kostmayer said that the show is a great for people who have never seen a musical before because it "grabs you with the spectacle of it all...the music, the costumes."

Hear more about "Wicked" from "Glinda" hersself - Celia Hottenstein - on the WRAL Out and About Podcast this week. Mix 101.5 FM's Diane Ramsey interviews Hottenstein about the show.
