For a Christmas tree farm in Ashe County, the coming holiday season meant a meeting with White House staff.
According to a Facebook post by the North Carolina Christmas Tree Association, White House staff were at Peak Farms in Jefferson on Wednesday to pick out a Fraser fir to display in the White House Blue Room.
Peak Farms, owned by Rusty and Beau Estes, is no stranger to this process as they provided a tree during the Obama administration in 2012 and a tree to the vice president in 2018.
Fourteen trees have been sourced from North Carolina to be displayed in the White House Blue Room since 1961.
While the tree was selected on Wednesday, the harvesting will occur in November, after which the tree will be personally presented to first lady Jill Biden by the owners of Peak Farms.
