Everyone wants to know -- when will things reopen, and when will life be back to normal?

On Thursday evening, President Donald Trump will lay out his plans for reopening the economy by offering guidance to governors, who have the ultimate say.

In North Carolina, Gov. Roy Cooper plans to make some slight changes while keeping some of the current restrictions in place.

The stay-at-home order is in effect until April 29, but it could be extended. Once it ends, Gov. Cooper explained the "new normal" could include more people wearing masks and more temperature checks. Restaurants may have limited seating, and sporting events and concerts may not have live crowds.

Gov. Cooper said he will set the minimum requirements for reopening, and counties can continue to enforce stricter guidelines.

He also pushed for expanded testing to determine the extent of the virus in our state.

On Wednesday, President Trump said the U.S. is over its peak in the pandemic, but Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top doctor on the president’s coronavirus task force, said we need a vaccine before a full reopening.

The White House has not yet said what the president's guidance will be for governors. The national briefing will be held at 5 p.m. You can watch live here, on WRAL-TV and in the WRAL News app.
