What's new in Washington this fall?

1906 Bistro & Bourbons

This beautiful new addition to Washington’s Harbor District offers a wide array of some of the country’s best bourbons, as well as other cocktail options and brews. The corner building dates back to the 1830’s and through the years has been a bank, a watch store, a pharmacy, a soda counter, and many other business ventures. Today it boasts a distinguished decor of wood and brick. Owners Warren and Kat and their attentive staff invite you to come watch the big game, enjoy a classic old fashioned, a flatbread pizza, or Sunday brunch with a mimosa flight. They even hosted a fundraising night last month to help a fellow pub and small business that was struggling with some air conditioning issues. Now that’s what we call community spirit! The Little Inn at Washington

The latest lodging offering in downtown is The Little Inn at Washington. This newly erected ten room boutique hotel will transport you back in time with its architecture reminiscent of an ornate past and its classic Charleston-esque style railings. Make no mistake, though: The Little Inn has all of the modern amenities and lush accommodations that you look forward to during your stay. Owner Felicia Burroughs-Huggins has brought to life a vision of history, comfort, and luxury that’s just steps away from fine dining, art galleries, shopping, the riverfront, and exciting nightlife. Main Cup

In the lobby of The Little Inn is the newly opened Main Cup. Offering coffee, lattes, specialty teas, fresh squeezed lemonades, and orangeades, this quaint neighborhood spot recalls a simpler time when an old fashioned cherry or vanilla Coke with friends at the soda fountain made the day complete. Main Cup also offers sweet treats that will delight your taste buds. Have an iced tea while relaxing in a rocking chair out front right on Main Street. You will find yourself not wanting to leave! Parle’ Riverfront Restaurant & Bar

Not a new establishment in Washington, but a newly branded one in a fabulous venue on the waterfront. Parle’ Riverfront Restaurant & Bar has moved across the street from its original location, now with a larger seating area and a patio that looks directly out on the Pamlico River. Parle’ has renovated the entire space and updated their menu which includes seafood, steaks, wraps, appetizers, and a shrimp po’boy that is not to be missed! They also offer an eclectic cocktail menu and an extensive wine selection. Make sure you try out Sunday brunch and live local music on certain nights, or just enjoy a beverage on the patio with a great view and a river breeze. Click here for more information.

Pirate Port Playzone

A new option for children (and weary parents that need a date night) is Pirate Port Playzone. This venue for kids offers 10,000 square feet of pirate themed bouncing, jumping, and just plain fun! They offer drop-in play time and/or party rooms to celebrate a special occasion. Discover pirate-themed bounce houses, climbing equipment, trampolines, a game area, a contained toddler area, and a sensory room for those with sensory issues. Whether mom and dad want a dinner out, or you want to plan a small family get together, Pirate Port Playzone is here for you. Your kids are going to LOVE it!
