Wegmans Chapel Hill opening date announced with hiring event on Jan. 14
The new Wegmans supermarket in Chapel Hill is opening on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
The 99,000 sq. ft. store will open at 9 a.m. and is located at 1810 Fordham Road, Chapel Hill, NC.
On January 14, they are hosting a hiring event for the Chapel Hill store with approx. 120 part-time jobs available including cashier, stocking, culinary and fresh-food positions. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, you'll need to apply online at jobs.wegmans.com prior to attending the event.
Because of the coronavirus pandemic, you likely won't see any big Grand Opening events on Feb. 24. When the West Cary Wegmans opened in July 2020, the store set up a designated line-up area outside for customers in order to keep the capacity in the store at or under 50%, which was approx. 1,000 people including employees.
Wake Forest Hiring
Wegmans is starting the part-time hiring for its next store in Wake Forest, which should be opening in May, 2021.
According to the company statement, "There are nearly 275 part-time openings available throughout the store, including positions in restaurant foods, sushi, pizza, bakery, produce, deli, cheese, day and overnight grocery. Recruitment for 150 full-time employees began in November and is ongoing. Altogether, the Wake Forest store will employ 450 people. There are 15 remaining full-time positions, which include bakery, culinary, and overnight stocking. All applicants are encouraged to apply online at jobs.wegmans.com/wake-forest."
