Weekend best bets: Peak City Pig Fest, Dirty Dancing

Lots of events coming up this weekend including a tribute to Bull Durham and a barbecue festival in Apex.

For the foodies

Bone Suckin' Sauce Peak City Pig Fest (Historic Downtown Apex) - This barbecue festival is planned in downtown Apex Friday and Saturday. There will be live music, a beer garden and street vendors. All proceeds from the event support various charities of the Apex Sunrise Rotary Foundation.

Brunch Pop-Up! (Mofu Shoppe, 321 South Blount Street, Raleigh) - This special brunch pop up on Saturday will benefit 321 Coffee, a nonprofit staffed by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Father's Day Beer Dinner (MOFU Shoppe, 321 S. Blount St., Raleigh) - Mofu Shoppe in downtown Raleigh will host this beer dinner on Sunday featuring Chef James Higgins and Mike Rando, a Sommelier who works with Proof Wine & Spirits.

Daiquiri Dash (Dorothea Dix Park, 2105 Umstead Drive, Raleigh) - This 5K will feature drinks, music and food on Saturday afternoon a Dix Park.

3rd Annual Blackberry Festival (1321 Athens Dr, 1321 Athens Drive, Raleigh) - The Well Fed Community Garden, sponsored by Irregardless Cafe, is hosting their 3rd Annual Blackberry Festival on Saturday.

Sports, music and film

Durham Bulls: Lollygagger Night (Durham Bulls Athletic Park, 409 Blackwell St., Durham) - An ode to one of the most iconic scenes from the best sports movie in history...the Bulls will rebrand to the Durham Lollygaggers, complete with special jerseys, for one night only on Friday.

Movie By Moonlight: Dirty Dancing (Dorothea Dix Park, 2105 Umstead Drive, Raleigh) - This outdoor film series is Saturday at the flowers field at Dix Park.

Summerfest: Classics Under the Stars with the North Carolina Symphony (Koka Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - Head to Booth Amphitheatre on Saturday night for this concert featuring selections from Beethoven and Mozart, Rossini's William Tell Overture and Copland's Down a Country Lane.

Jon Bellion: The Glory Sound Prep Tour (Red Hat Amphitheater, 500 S. McDowell St., Raleigh) - Bellion will be touring in support of his new album, Glory Sound Prep, which includes the singles "Conversations with my Wife," "JT" and "Stupid Deep." See him Saturday night at Red Hat Amphitheater.

Steep Canyon Rangers with Chatham Rabbits (North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - Asheville-based Steep Canyon Rangers will perform at the North Carolina Museum of Art Friday night.

Remember When- 70's Soul Tour (Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, 2 E. South St., Raleigh) - Harold Melvin's Blue Notes will perform their greatest hits at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium on Saturday.

Grungefest Summer Kickoff (The Ritz, 2820 Industrial Drive, Raleigh) - Enjoy a night of grunge at The Ritz on Saturday with Foo Fighters, Tool, Alice in Chains and Soundgarden tribute bands.

Bull City Cruise-In (Blackwell Street and Diamond View Park, 318 Blackwell St., Durham) - This family friendly event will feature more than 100 cars and trucks on display and live music at American Tobacco Campus on Saturday.
