Festivals, food and more

Aug. 4-5: 15th Annual Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Festival - This two day event will feature more than 60 beers, 40 bourbons and lots of barbecue at Booth Amphitheatre. Admission tickets include souvenir glasses for you to enjoy all-you-care-to-taste samples of bourbon and beer. Tickets start at $42. Designated driver tickets are $25 and will be sold on-site the day of the event only.

Aug. 5: Taste of Soul NC (Seafood Edition) - Enjoy food from a variety of vendors at Durham Central Park from 3 to 8 p.m.

Aug. 4: Triangle Vintage Market - Visit 16 vendors from across the triangle selling a wide array of vintage gear at Durty Bull Brewing from noon to 6 p.m.

Aug. 4: Sir Walter Miler - The 2023 Sir Walter Miler will take place at Meredith College at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Food trucks will be on site and there will be a pre and post race party at Raleigh Brewing Company.

Now-Aug.12: Uproar Festival of Public Art - This new arts festival is taking place now through August 12th in Orange County, North Carolina. Check out 60 outdoor works of art which are showcased throughout the downtown communities of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough and you can vote on your favorite.

Live music

Aug. 4: Eric Church - The singer brings his "The Outsiders Revival Tour" to Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.

Aug. 4: The Rocket Man Show: Tribute to Elton John - Rus recreates the magic and live persona of a young Elton John during this show at DPAC Friday night.

Aug. 4: Jason Mraz and his Superband - Mraz brings his "Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride tour" to Red Hat Amphitheater on Friday starting at 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 4 - Music in the Park - Start your weekend on Friday night by attending the free Music in the Park concert series in Morrisville. Concerts are held at the Morrisville Healthy Food Hub from 6:30-8:30 p.m. On Aug. 4, the band will be Retro-Grade. The Blue Window will sell food and refreshments.

Aug. 4: Summer at the Springs - Bring a lawn chairs or blanket for a fun evening of music featuring The Amazing Lounge Lizards at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. Food trucks will be available.

Aug. 5: Flash Chorus on the Roof - The Flash Chorus Band will teach you how to sing, “Time of the Season” by The Zombies and “That Summer Feeling” by Jonathan Richman on the open-air rooftop at The Durham Hotel. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

Aug. 5: Slightly Stoopid and Sublime - Slightly Stoopid and Sublime with Rome will play Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on Saturday.

Aug. 6: Shakey Graves - See the singer on stage at The Ritz.

Aug. 6: Snoop Dog, Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort - Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Too $hort and more bring the H.S. Reunion Tour 2023 to Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek on Sunday.

Family-Friendly Events

Aug. 4: August First Friday Market and Movie Night - Pop-up Carolinas and Raleigh Parks will host this outdoor market with food trucks, live entertainment and games on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Moore Square. There will also be a free screening of "The Princess and the Frog."

Aug. 4 and 5: Seussical The Musical - Join Clayton Theatricals as they present their summer youth production of Seussical the Musical (Theater for Young Audiences)! Enjoy your favorite Dr. Seuss characters as they take you on a wacky, whimsical, and heartfelt musical adventure perfect for the whole family!

Aug. 5: Hello Kitty Cafe Truck at The Streets at Southpoint - The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is returning to The Streets at Southpoint. Visit the truck at Cinema Circle from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Aug. 5: Art with Heart - This special summer art program is offered to children entering 4th grade and those who have completed 8th grade. This is a free event, but you will need to reserve your spot online. All materials and lunch will be provided.

Aug. 5: Summer Movie on the Lawn at Dix Park - The Dix Park Conservancy is hosting a free family movie night this weekend. Enjoy Dreamworks' Shrek! Come dressed as your favorite character or maybe just bring some gumdrop buttons. Activities and food truck service starts at 7:00 p.m. The movie starts at 8:45 p.m.

Aug. 5: Rock the Park Concert and Movie Series - Enjoy the sounds of salsa music by Orquesta K'che starting at 6:30 p.m. at Southern Boundaries Park in Durham. This is a free event.

Aug. 5: Carolina Theatre Family Film Series -The Carolina Theatre in Durham is a non-profit theater. There are many free or low-cost events for families to enjoy. This weekend, check out a free screening of the movie "How to Train Your Dragon." Tickets will be available for pick up thirty minutes before the box office opens the day of the screening.

Aug. 5: Family Movie Night: Spider-Man: No Way Home - The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department will host a free screening of the movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home" at Joyner Park on Saturday. Pre-show activities start at 7:30 p.m.

Aug. 5: Sweet Valley Ranch's Dinosaur World - As featured on WRAL's Tar Heel Traveler, experience a visit to the pre-historic world where you will see over 40 dinosaurs in a natural habitat right in Fayetteville.

Aug. 5: Gotcha' Back School Kickoff - This free event at the Crown Explo in Fayetteville will offer community resources to help families prepare to head back to school. Special prices include the annual girl and boy bike giveaway! Enjoy an Entrepreneur Fair featuring youth business owners and local entrepreneurs.  Students must be present to receive backpacks and supplies.

Aug. 5: Teddy Bear Picnic - What kid doesn't want to have a pinic at the park with their Teddy Bear! Head to Pullen Park for this first time event. At the top of every hour, kids can join a parade! So, grab your favorite Teddy Bear, Dino, or toy, and join us to march to our Storytime adventures. Please bring used books for a donation to the book sale table!

Aug. 5: Shaun Jay Magic: Enjoy a free magical performance by Shaun Jay Magic as part of Wake County Library's Family Performance Series.

Aug. 6: Marvel-ous Movie Series: Head to the North Regional Library in Raleigh for a free screening of The Incredible Hulk.

Aug. 4-Sept. 24: Paperhand Puppet presents: Where our spirits reside - The show takes place August 4th through September 17th at the Forest Theatre in Chapel Hill and September 22-24 at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh. Tickets range $10-20.
