Cold front brings chance for rain to central N.C.

A cold front moving through the state could bring spotty showers to central North Carolina through Tuesday, but there is little chance for anything severe, WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said.

"It's a completely different animal from what it was yesterday over Tennessee," Maze said.

There is a chance some showers could become severe east of the Interstate-95 corridor. The biggest risk from these storms would be strong winds and heavy rain. Even that chance is only very slight, Maze said.

Cloudy skies locked in humidity Monday and kept temperatures in a narrow range. The overnight low Monday is expected to dip into the upper 60s

Tuesday the rain moves out and skies clear, with temperatures returning to the mid 80s.
