'Toasty' weather comes to N.C.

Temperatures will hit summer-like highs across North Carolina on the first weekend of May.

The warm-up was already evident Saturday morning. Temperatures in the mid 60s were 10 to 15 degrees higher than on Friday morning.

"It is going to be toasty," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

Saturday will see a high temperature in the mid to upper 80s, and the mercury could leap up to 92 degrees Sunday.

High humidity and partly cloudy skies will also hang around this weekend, but the chances of rain are slight.

"Today (Saturday), we have a little better chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon, but it's not the kind of thing you cancel your plans for," Moss said.

Temperatures will dip slightly during the work week. Highs will settle into the low to mid 80s.

"We stay a little on the warm side of normal but not too bad," Moss said.
