Windy storms topple trees, knock out power

A cold front finally punched through North Carolina late Saturday, ushering in cooler temperatures. Overnight showers will make Monday even cooler, and wet.

"Clouds in the west and south will bring rain into forecast overnight and early Monday," WRAL meteorologist Kim Deaner said.

Overnight, the frontal boundary will get more active, but it will produce clouds, light rain and showers, instead of the severe storms that the state saw this past week. Light, patchy rain is possible throughout Monday.

Sunday's highs were in the low 80s. Monday will also be considerably cooler, with a high in the low to mid 60s. "We might even drop into the 50s on occasion," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

The sun returns on Tuesday and Wednesday, and temperatures remain springlike, in the mid to upper 70s.

"Tuesday is going to be an absolutely fabulous day with temperatures in the 70s," Deaner said.
