Why the delay on Sampson County Weather. You all reported the weather after I watched it for 1/12hrs and after I watched it through my windows. They were open and we had lots of towels to help if needed. Please tell me why this delay happened.

MIKE MOSS SAYS:       Terri,      In reviewing the sequence of events from Monday morning's storm complex, including a look back at radar imagery from the early morning hours, I'm not quite sure what you mean by a delay regarding Sampson county. We noted in forecasts starting back on Friday that strong and possibly severe storms would be possible Sunday night into Monday morning. Then, on Monday morning itself, several showers and non-severe thunderstorms had passed across Sampson County  for a while before a more intense cell approached from the southwest between about 2:15 and 2:30 am.

Unlike earlier showers, this cell appeared to pose a severe weather threat (the possibility of a tornado, wind gusts above 58 mph, or hail larger of at least 3/4-inch diameter) and the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning. Chris Thompson cut in over regular programming and was on the air broadcasting less than 90 seconds after that warning was issued, which wouldn't seem to represent much of a delay. If your area received damaging wind gusts, a tornado, or large hail earlier than that, please let us know.
