I and others noticed some unusual contrails over Wake county Wednesday. Is it possible that cloud seeding is going on?

MIKE MOSS SAYS:       Tim,    It seems doubtful, as I'm sure a cloud seeding program would be well publicized given the intensity of the drought across the state at this point. It also is doubtful because seeding operations usually depend on enhancing precipitation from clouds that already exist in a pattern that has at least some limited potential to produce rain or snow. For much of the dry period we've experienced, the overall pattern has involved large areas of deep dry air and a general sinking motion in the atmosphere that would likely preclude much if any benefit from a seeding operation.
