Wayne County basketball manager suits up and scores in memorable moment for team, school

Dreams recently came true for a Wayne County middle school student and basketball fan.

Chris Boykin is the student manager for the Norwayne Middle School basketball team. He has autism and other disabilities, but he's an overcomer.

For the past three years, he's served the team from the sidelines.

In his 8th grade year, he finally had the opportunity to suit up for the team against Brogden Middle School on Feb. 12.

Even better, he made his dream come true by scoring a basket.

"I had a dream one day that I was playing the game and I make one shot," Chris said.

"It just made us all cry," said Chris's grandmother Tammy Priest. "We had family come from all over just to be there for that big night for him."

That layup came after an unofficial tip-off and the two points didn't make it on the official score sheet for the game. Still, Chris was there on the starting lineup for that game and played all four quarters.
