Water main breaks near NC State, causing road closure

A short stretch of Brooks Ave. near NC State was closed Thursday morning due to a water main break.

The water main break sent water flowing slowly down the road. People in the area were advised to find another way around.

A tweet from Raleigh Police said Brooks Ave. was closed from Rosedale Ave. to Mayview Road. They originally said they believed a sinkhole was in the area; however, it appeared to just be a water main break upon further investigation.

Officials said it was a very quick detour, but causing lot of traffic during the morning commute near NC State.
