Water main break closes portion of Roxboro Street in Durham

A water main break Thursday morning closed a portion of Roxboro Street.

The break was reported before 3:30 a.m. between Lavender Avenue and Hammond Street, north of Interstate 85.

A detour was in place to take drivers around the gushing water and through an adjacent neighborhood.

Repair crews were working quickly, but it may be hours before the road reopens.
