Wake Tech Community College initiated penalties Tuesday to enforce a three-year-old ban on tobacco use on campus.

Students found smoking or using tobacco of any kind on campus get a written reprimand for the first offense, probation for the second offense. A third strike means a three-day suspension from classes.

The school beefed up its security force to help with enforcement.
