The Wake Forest Cougars forced a decisive third game in the 4A baseball state championship series on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over the T.C. Roberson Rams.

After being defeated by run rule on Friday night, the Cougars locked in behind the effort of senior pitcher Cooper Allen.

Allen allowed a run in the game's first inning, but was flawless from then on as his pitch count crept higher.

The Cougars tied the game in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI double by James Bradbury.

Allen gave them two more scoreless innings in the fourth and fifth to set up a crucial bottom half of the fifth.

The Cougars got runners on, and a pair of RBI doubles from sophomore Ethan Brittain and then from Allen put them ahead 3-1.

Wake Forest took that lead in to the seventh, where Allen walked the leadoff hitter before striking out the next three Rams in succession to clinch the win.

The decisive third game will take place later Saturday, with first pitch coming at approximately 5:00 P.M. from Burlington Athletic Stadium.
